Nice! ![]() The Gretton Music Festival announces a change to the advertised programme on Saturday night 24th August at the Gretton Sports and Social Club CRABBY AND THE BOYS Are a five piece electric covers band playing all your favourite songs around Northamptonshire. They will be playing their “Unplugged” set on Saturday night at the Gretton Sports Club starting at 8pm. Admission is free. https://www.facebook.com/crabbyandtheboyscorby ![]() Join me for two hours of vinyl heaven featuring a free jukebox stacked full of 45s covering The Rolling Stones from their first steps with "Come On", "I Wanna Be Your Man" and "Not Fade Away" right up to "Don’t Stop" and "Streets of Love" PLUS a rare collection of one the Stones biggest recording influences, Chuck Berry, with "Carol", "Let It Rock" and of course "Johnny B Goode". No need to flip the coin right into the slot, you'll always get what you want accompanied by a cup of tea or coffee (Brown Sugar of course) or a glass of wine. Be there or be square! The Gretton Music Festival is taking place at various venues throughout the village from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th August (Bank Holiday weekend). Here’s a sample of what’s on offer to whet your appetite – events detailed below are FREE of charge, unless stated otherwise: ¨ Unplugged and Thirsty will be at the Blue Bell Inn on Friday 23rd August, 7.30pm, playing a range of covers; ¨ HMS Welland ‘set sail’ at Lydia’s Coffee Shop on Saturday 24th August, 10.30am, performing traditional sea shanties; ¨ Chanterelle at Lydia’s Coffee Shop on Saturday 24th August, 11am, will perform traditional music and French song and dance; ¨ Pennyless ‘Tales from the Tulgey Wood’ is on at Gretton Village Hall on Saturday 24th August, 7.30pm. This is a folk music event and costs £10 per person (£8 concessions), with tickets available from Gretton Post Office or on the door; ¨ Blaize Jones White is a talented local lass singing covers and original compositions at the Blue Bell Inn on Saturday 24th August from 8.30pm; ¨ Dirty Thünder are rocking out at the Gretton Sports and Social Club on Saturday 24th August from 8pm, and will be covering anthems from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Guns ‘n’ Roses and Whitesnake; ¨ Murphy’s Law offer a Bluegrass/Celtic mix and can be seen at the Gretton Sports and Social Club on Sunday 25th August from 3pm; ¨ Stevie Rigsby and Guests are in The Talbot on Sunday 25th August from 1pm to 5pm with an acoustic set; ¨ Picnic and Praise in the Paddock at the Baptist Chapel on Sunday 25th August is Gretton’s version of ‘Songs of Praise’, where you have the opportunity to choose your favourite hymns for the group to sing. Free, but donations gratefully received; ¨ Open Mic at The Hatton Arms is an ever-popular event and takes place on Monday 26th August from 2pm. For all ages, abilities, groups or solo artistes. Not forgetting also the unique ‘Music Trail’ on the afternoon of Saturday 24th August (various venues, free), and the highly popular ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll with Laughter’ comedy and music show at the Village Hall on Sunday 25th August (tickets cost £10 from Gretton Post Office), you can see there really is something for everyone. So get to Gretton to feast your senses on a great range of musical experiences – and you’ll be ‘glad all over’ that you did!
