For the first time ever, The Gretton Music Festival 2013 will feature 'The Music Trail', a unique opportunity for visitors to spend an afternoon roaming around Gretton broadening their musical horizons. A series of special mini-events are planned for Saturday 24th August, all hosted by local music enthusiasts.

If you live in Gretton and would like to share your passion for music by hosting a mini-event at your home, garden, pub, shop, street corner or anywhere in Gretton for that matter, we'd love to hear from you. We're open to ALL ideas as long as there's a musical theme. It could be a concert or recital, a DJ set, busking on the High Street, a talk or lecture about music or just the urge to throw a party and spin a few of your favourite tunes for all-comers to enjoy.

Please contact us asap if you would like to take part in the first ever Gretton Music Trail. You can submit your idea via the festival website at: http://www.grettonmusicfestival.com/music-trail.html

Confirmed so far:

'Viva Verdi'
Join your host Martin McEvoy for an afternoon of power, passion, sex, politics, wine, pasta and Verdi... an everyday story of life at the Opera. Hear and see some of the greatest scenes from the world of opera.

'Honky Tonk Café'
Terry Forsey hosts two hours of vinyl heaven featuring a free jukebox stacked full of 45s by The Rolling Stones and many of the great acts that influenced them. No need to flip the coin right into the slot, you'll always get what you want accompanied by a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

'Roots In The Garden'
Hold on tight as your selector I-Man Mark takes you on a musical journey featuring the finest sounds from the golden era of Jamaican ska, rocksteady, roots, reggae, dub, funk and dancehall. Guaranteed sunshine music! All tribes welcome.

'African Drumming For All'
Head on down to the Village Green for a hands-on, free-for-all African drumming session with Gretton's fledgling African drumming group. Paul and Alec will be on hand with some lively rhythms and helpful tips on playing technique. Drums are provided but feel free to bring your own along and join in the fun.

If you have an idea for an event as part of the first ever Gretton Music Trail, please contact us and we'll be in touch to help turn it into reality.
