Combining Hymns, Jazz, Top 40, Classic Rock, West End Musicals & Opera there’s something for all ages and every musical taste. Add to that an open mic session, children’s French sing-along and a ukulele Band and you can see why we say there’s no other festival like us! In fact we’re absolutely unique!!
Last year saw many concerts sold out throughout the village and we are delighted to have a number of performers back by popular demand. In particular, Gretton's supergroup, Unplugged & Thirsty, plus Elle Roberts. Our schedule includes the ever popular opportunity to “Sing Your Favourite Hymns” at the Baptist Chapel and we expect another packed house at Hatton Arms Open Mic Session.
This year's new artists include Lazy Alligator Jazz Band, who caused a real storm at their recent Blue Bell performances, and Barb Jungr whose March show was a sell out at the Core in Corby.
A first for 2012 is the participation of the Sports and Social Club. They welcome Northampton based The Above who promise Classic Rock to “entertain you from start to finish and keep you wanting more!”. There’ll be free air guitars for everyone. Who can wait?
One of the highlights of last year was 2011 was baritone Mark Llewelyn Evans in the "Opera for All" gala concert. Expect a stunning return in "The Best of British" a celebration of the best of Musical Theatre from Andrew Lloyd Webber to Music Hall.
Further new acts are being finalised, so keep visiting the website at www.grettonmusicfestival.com for more information. You can also see YouTube videos of many of our new acts.
The Gretton Music Festival will feature performances at the three village pubs, The Talbot, The Blue Bell & The Hatton Arms and well as our 'fourth pub' the Sports and Social Club. Both our churches, St James and the Baptist Chapel are also hosting performances as are The Village Hall, The Village Green and Lydia's Coffee Shop.
The Gretton Music Festival 2012 takes place over August Bank Holiday spanning four days with concerts from Friday 24th August through to Monday 27th August.
